My big news
After a few weeks of waiting I finally got the call from Emirates to say that I got the job! I have to be in Dubai by the 5th of february so it's all happening pretty quickly! I know it's a goof opportunity but it's going to be so hard leaving all my friends and family.

Nov/Dec
Well its been a busy few weeks. So heres an update on everything that I have done!
A couple of days after my exhibiton I took a bus up to Tin Can Bay to meet Dad and the rest of the crew on the final leg of his big sailing trip. It was a good few days however the weather wasn't always on our side. If you want to check out a more detailed version of our trip, take a look at Dad's blog at sailqldcoast.blogspot.com
Every year our street gets involved with putting Christmas lights up and there is generally a prize for the best display of lights. And this year I am proud to say that we won!! The photo above is of the trophy we won!
It was mums birthday on the 6th of December and we took her to Aria for dinner. The food was amazing! And when we were leaving they gave us a little box of macaroons.
I don't know what it is with my cat but lately she has taken a liking to mums kinder kids books...
Due to the recent change in my relationship status and being on holidays I have been heading out on the town more often. The photos above are documents of our times spent at Valley carpark and a random Christmas party.
And finally..... I GRADUATED!!!!!!!!!
After four long years and $20,000 later I finally got the piece of paper!!
Tomorrow I am off to Melbourne for Christmas and then New Zealand for NYE.
I hope you all have a lovely break and will be sure to update you when I get back

Emirates
The last two days have been somewhat of a blur. On Saturday I had planned to attend Emirates open day so that I could hand in a copy of my CV and listen to a talk about Dubai and hear more information on the job as a flight attendant. When I arrived at the building there appeared to be only 40 people. As Emirates recruitment officers were expecting around 200 people they decided to scrap the original plans and to go straight into the interviewing process. I should point out that I went into this thinking that it was going to be a learning experience as I heard Emirates can be rather picky with who they choose.
Anyway the started they interview process and low and behold I was making it in round by round. I was shocked! I think my attitude towards the whole situation (that of never expecting to make it anywhere and knowing it was a long shot) was what kept me calm and confident (which is also a rather rare thing for me in such situations). Anyway after 12 hours of sitting in the same building with know food or drink I surprisingly made it to the final interview. We were briefed on the documents we had to fill out and what photos we had to bring as well as what to wear to the interview.
The next day was a mad rush making sure I had everything and was looking to the standard at which they would like. Then came the interview. I found that most of the questions were related to customer service and my previous experiences with customers. Now because I have worked in numerous places and mainly with alcohol a lot of my stories were based around drunk people. This would of been okay I think if I was going for a job with a local Australian airline, however because they were writing everything I was saying down in order to send off to their superiors in Dubai they informed me that not all my stories could be of dealing with alcohol. This therefore meant that half the stories I gave them were half hearted and I felt did not answer their questions as precisely as I would have hoped to.
Despite what ever the outcome may be (even though I know for a fact that I messed it up) I am proud of how far I got in the screening stages and with such a picky airline. And as this was my first interview in the career I hope to get into this has given me more confidence when applying for local airlines as I am 90% sure their interviewing process will not be so involved.

Coming to a close
It is a bittersweet moment in my life at present.
Last Thursday was our final assesment. The thing all us photography students had been working towards for the past 3 years (however in my case 4). I like to think everything went relatively smoothly, but we find out for sure tomorrow (so fingers crossed!!!)
Today however was the official hanging day for our final exhibition which is on this thursday night. It seemed that all my built up stress over the last few month finally boiled over and today it seemed to get the better of me. However it was with this little breakdown that I came to the realization that I will be really sad to leave uni and all my new friends that I had made there over the last year.
But in saying that I am so excited for the next year and getting out into the workforce and earning some decent money!!
I am so extremely proud of my work and the others within my class so check it out and feel free to comment on the post below :)

My Final Folio
Architectonic
Inspired by contemporary interior and exterior architectural spaces I hybridize photography and sculpture to make pieces that can be re-integrated into built environments. The interchangeable nature of the work is representational of the way in which multiple materials often come together to create unique spaces. The photographic images superimposed onto the plaster are documents of textural and patterned qualities used in architectural design. In making these objects I have drawn from a range of materials that are used to construct the spaces we inhabit but that we don't always observe and appreciate.

Funky Times
Lately I feel as if I am in a funk, and I just can't seem to shake it!
The thing that is most annoying about this rut is that it has come at the most inconvient of times, as I am meant to be graduating in a month and have seem to have lost any motivation or inspiration to work on my final folio.
I have been reading a lot of other blogs lately, I guess in teh hope that everyone elses amazingly interesting lives will force me to get out and do something. And it was through doing this that I discovered the 'Happy List.' This is a list which you make, in order for you to recognise and concentrate on all the good things that are happening in your life. So this is what I am going to do :)
My Happy List
1. The weather - I have always been a fan of winter but lately the weather up here in Brisbane has been that of what a normal Melbourne summer would be. Sunny, warm and not humid = perfect!!!!
2. Fashion - much to my credit cards dismay I have been out shopping for summer clothes, and I have bought sooo many nice things from French Connection, I just can't wait to wear them all.
3. I GRADUATE IN A MONTH!!!! - Four final weeks and I am no longer a student! Yay I can't wait to get out there and get a full time job and earn real money.
4. It's almost Decemeber which means, NEW ZEALAND!! - I am sooo excited for this trip because I have never been to NZ before, and also I am going with my favourite people in the world, who I don't get to see very often due to them living in Melbourne.
5. My room - I recently went to Ikea and came home with a bookshelf and a new tv so I am thrilled with the way my room is looking right now! (For as long as I can remember I have always wanted a TV in my room but was never allowed until I left school as my parents knew it would interfere with my studies)
6. Work - I have recently started a new job at a hotel in the Valley and although I have to get up at 5am I am just loving how everyone is so nice there! Such a contrary to my old job. I am also thrilled that I left that place!
7. My hair - I finally got it cut. After going a whole 18 months of not getting it cut (I was trying to grow it out) I have finally got it styled. I decided to go with a fringe and I am loving it!!!!!!!
So although this has been a post of mixed emotions, I am glad that I have had the chance to sit down and look at the positives in my life. So now I will be sure to concentrate on that and lets see if it gets me out of this funk :)
Wish me luck xo

Dad's Blog
My Dad has recently started a blog (with a little help from me) to track his adventures on his sailing trip up north.
He set sail from our home town of Brisbane last week and plans to take our 40ft yacht, over a period of 6 months, all the way up to the cape and back.
If you want to follow him on his journey, check out his blog at www.sailqldcoast.blogspot.com

India
This time last week I had just arrived home after spending 8 days in India.
I like to think of myself as well travelled but never before have I been to a place quite like India.
There are a few things that shocked me.
The first was that of the volume of people. Now I had heard that India has a population of around 90 million people but I have never seen quite so many people in the one place before. Despite the obvious problems that a country is faced with when overcrowded it actually seemed to function quite well.
The second is kind of linked in a way to the first. Traffic!
Due to the amount of people using the roads it would take us forever to get anywhere by car. Not only this but the Indians also seemed to have a different take on road rules. It was found to be quite amusing as instead of looking into rear-vision mirrors when merging into lanes (when they decided to use lanes) they would simply just blow their horns at each other. However in saying that it was amusing, after four hours of it on one day it did become rather annoying.
Whilst over there we were lucky enough to miss the terrorist attacks in Mumbai by a couple of hours. We were on our way there when we heard about it and it wasn't until we go to our hotel that we realised the severity of it as our car, baggage and selves were checked for explosives. It was scary to think that a bomb had been found just a few blocks down from our hotel.
The most memorable thing that I took away from the trip was that of the people. I loved that despite them being in often shit situations they never failed to be caring and helpful. They were constantly going out of their way to help us and even on our last night they bought us a slice of cake with the words 'bon voyage' written underneath.
