Merry Christmas!

My big news

After a few weeks of waiting I finally got the call from Emirates to say that I got the job! I have to be in Dubai by the 5th of february so it's all happening pretty quickly! I know it's a goof opportunity but it's going to be so hard leaving all my friends and family.

Nov/Dec

Well its been a busy few weeks. So heres an update on everything that I have done!

A couple of days after my exhibiton I took a bus up to Tin Can Bay to meet Dad and the rest of the crew on the final leg of his big sailing trip. Every year our street gets involved with putting Christmas lights up and there is generally a prize for the best display of lights. And this year I am proud to say that we won!! The photo above is of the trophy we won!

It was mums birthday on the 6th of December and we took her to Aria for dinner. The food was amazing! And when we were leaving they gave us a little box of macaroons. 

I don't know what it is with my cat but lately she has taken a liking to mums kinder kids books...

Due to the recent change in my relationship status and being on holidays I have been heading out on the town more often. The photos above are documents of our times spent at Valley carpark and a random Christmas party.

And finally..... I GRADUATED!!!!!!!!!

After four long years and $20,000 later I finally got the piece of paper!!

Tomorrow I am off to Melbourne for Christmas and then New Zealand for NYE.

Life in photos

Emirates

The last two days have been somewhat of a blur. On Saturday I had planned to attend Emirates open day so that I could hand in a copy of my CV and listen to a talk about Dubai and hear more information on the job as a flight attendant. When I arrived at the building there appeared to be only 40 people. As Emirates recruitment officers were expecting around 200 people they decided to scrap the original plans and to go straight into the interviewing process. I should point out that I went into this thinking that it was going to be a learning experience as I heard Emirates can be rather picky with who they choose. 

Anyway the started they interview process and low and behold I was making it in round by round. I was shocked! I think my attitude towards the whole situation (that of never expecting to make it anywhere and knowing it was a long shot) was what kept me calm and confident (which is also a rather rare thing for me in such situations). Anyway after 12 hours of sitting in the same building with know food or drink I surprisingly made it to the final interview. We were briefed on the documents we had to fill out and what photos we had to bring as well as what to wear to the interview. 

The next day was a mad rush making sure I had everything and was looking to the standard at which they would like. Then came the interview. I found that most of the questions were related to customer service and my previous experiences with customers. Now because I have worked in numerous places and mainly with alcohol a lot of my stories were based around drunk people. This would of been okay I think if I was going for a job with a local Australian airline, however because they were writing everything I was saying down in order to send off to their superiors in Dubai they informed me that not all my stories could be of dealing with alcohol. This therefore meant that half the stories I gave them were half hearted and I felt did not answer their questions as precisely as I would have hoped to. 

Despite what ever the outcome may be (even though I know for a fact that I messed it up) I am proud of how far I got in the screening stages and with such a picky airline. And as this was my first interview in the career I hope to get into this has given me more confidence when applying for local airlines as I am 90% sure their interviewing process will not be so involved.
